His hands-on leadership style and industry knowledge continue to drive GWUA’s vision forward, ensuring water security and optimal water quality for the Grabouw community and association members.

Albert Pontac
Technical Manager
Albert Pontac has been the backbone of the company’s technical operations since 2006. With a strong background in systems management, maintenance, and technical innovation, Albert oversees all operational and infrastructure processes to ensure optimal performance, efficiency, and reliability. His extensive knowledge of the GWUA system piping scheme, combined with his hands-on approach and problem-solving mindset, makes him an invaluable asset to the team and a trusted source of technical expertise within the organisation.

Melinda Groenewald
Office Administrator
Melinda Groenewald joined the company in November 2023, bringing with her over 30 years of valuable experience from her time at the Department of Environmental Affairs. As Office Administrator, she plays a central role in keeping operations running smoothly through her organizational skills and deep understanding of administrative processes. Her calm, efficient presence ensures the office remains productive and well-coordinated.

Timothy Jack ERU Project
Co-ordinator
Timothy Jack joined the Environmental Resource Unit in April 2025 as Project Coordinator for alien clearing, river maintenance, flood repairs, and water quality. With deep expertise in biodiversity conservation, he leads efforts to control invasive alien plants, manage field teams, and ensure environmental compliance. His strong background in ecological restoration and project management makes him a key contributor to preserving indigenous habitats and sustaining local water resources.

Oswin Pontac has been a key member of the technical team on and off since 2022 and was appointed on a full-time contract in May 2025. As a dedicated Technician, he is responsible for maintaining and repairing essential equipment, ensuring operational efficiency and minimal downtime. Oswin is known for his hands-on approach, reliability, and willingness to go the extra mile to support both colleagues and operations.

Chadley Jephthah
Assistant Technician
Chadley has supported the technical department as an Assistant Technician since 2022, contributing to equipment maintenance, repairs, and daily operational tasks. Eager to learn and grow within the field, Chadley is valued for his positive attitude, adaptability, and strong work ethic. He plays an important role in ensuring technical operations run smoothly and efficiently.
